Andrea Sole-Costa lives and works in Florence, Italy. Her collaboration with the choreographer Alberto Canestro in the construction of sets and costumes for operas and ballets led her to the world of very large canvases and the almost forgotten works of old masters like Bronzino, Dürer, Titian, Guido Reni and Botticelli.
This path has led the artist to take a fresh look of the value of the pictorial realism. Sole-Costa started re-interpreting the concepts hidden in classic, old paintings with a contemporary twist. Reconstructing these legends with contemporary sensitivity and real live models give new relevance to myths and legends of the Greco-Latin heritage.
Andrea Sole Costa was born in Buenos Aires Argentina. She obtained a BFA from the Argentinean School of Ceramics “F. Arranz” and the Escuela de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts School) “P. Pueyrredon”. Sole-Costa moved to Florence, Italy in the seventy’s, where she received a MFA from the Institute for Art and Restoration “Palazzo Spinelli”. Sole-Costa integrated quickly into the Florentine world of arts and opened her studio where she devoted to paint and to teach.
